Meet(from left to right) Lilith, James, and Claus Hecate. Claus is the oldest, about three or four months older than Lilith and James, who are twins. When the three siblings were still very young, their mother took an innocent life because she falsely perceived him as a threat to her pups, and she was executed for it.

As per one of the laws of the Kaiyran Spiritual Code: "Any mother who is executed for a lethal wrongdoing of which she is clearly guilty, will have her pups presented to the Father of Demons, who will determine their fate." Claus, Lilith, and James were condemned to spend the rest of their lives as demons.

Not much is known about their demon forms, because only James has ever had so much as a brief encounter with his. He tries to recollect what it's like, and all he remembers is "being painfully lonely, like a child calling for its mother in the dark, and being sent into a grim, hopeless panic as if trapped underwater."
